One&Only Kanuhura is a 5-star luxury resort that offers the highest standards of accommodation, service and culinary experience. Every effort has been made to retain the natural beauty of the island and wherever possible, employ the use of only natural materials. The island is blessed with white powder beaches, coconut and palm trees, and crystal clear turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Geography and Climate
The 26 natural atolls, which make up the Maldives, contain some 1200 coral islands, infinite sandbanks and reefs that stretch 820 kilometres across the equator from North to South, and 120 kilometres East to West. With such an assemblage spread over an area of 90,000 square kilometres in the Indian Ocean, it is interesting to note that only 200 of these islands are inhabited, while an additional 90 have been converted into resorts. Tropical in climate with two significant seasons; the north-east monsoon, from December to March, is light and fairly dry, while the south-west monsoon, from June to November, occasionally brings brief downpours followed by sunshine. The temperature ranges from mid-20s to mid-30s and is highest in April and May.

Location and Transfer
One&Only Kanuhura is located on the eastern rim of the Faadhippolhu Atoll (Lhaviyani Atoll), just 81 miles or 125 kilometres from Male' (the capital of the Maldives), and is a 40-minute flight by seaplane from Male' International airport. Privately managed Maldivian Air Taxi services is the appointed carrier that transports guests to and from Kanuhura and Male'.

RESORT FACILITIES

Veyoge Spa
Pronounced "vay-yo-gay", which means "Bath House for Royalty" in Dhivehi (the national language); the spa is the largest in the Maldives. A diverse range of treatments and a comprehensive array of facilities integrated within beautifully designed wooden interiors, provides guests with a sanctuary for relaxation and overall body care. Signature massages like the Manawa and Maldivian Theyo Dhemun are a "must-try". In addition, the Spa's beauty salon features the famous Bastien's pedicure from France - a unique treatment that concentrates on the health and beauty aspects of pedicures. The spa also has a fully equipped fitness centre, aerobics studio, spa boutique, and separate steam bath, dry sauna, cold plunge pools, and Jacuzzis, for ladies and gentlemen.

Leisure Facilities
The Resort has a large fresh water swimming pool, volleyball area, 2 floodlit tennis courts, an air-conditioned squash court, table tennis, games room, library, karaoke lounge, and a lifestyle boutique. A tennis/squash instructor is available as a playing partner or for coaching sessions. Guests can also enjoy darts, table soccer and billiards in the games room, or just relax with a cosy read in our library. The Lava Lounge has state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment, which makes the room ideal for karaoke, conferences and presentations. Music and video CDs are also available at reception for in-villa use.

Dolphin Water Sports Centre
The Water Sports Center is a member of the internationally recognized Association of Windsurfing Schools in Germany, or VDWS (Verband Deutscher Windsurf und Wassersport Schulen e.v.). With the very best in qualified instructors and water sports equipment, guests are assured of a safe and fun time on the various excursions and lessons that are offered. Speedboat rentals, canoes, 4-seater banana, water-skis, fun tubes, and kneeboards are also available.

Sun Dive Centre
Lhaviyani Atoll is known for its stunning underwater fauna and marine life, offering some of the best diving sites in the world. Over 40 dive sites, including 2 shipwrecks and a manta point, are accessible within minutes from the Resort. The PADI Gold Palm certified dive centre offers newcomers a first-class introduction to diving and unique excursions for experienced divers. Nitrox diving is also available.

Excursions
Discover the beauty of the Maldives with an endless selection of activities. Choose from snorkelling tours, fishing, island hopping, private island picnics and sunset cruises.

KidsOnly & Babysitting Services
KidsOnly is a club facility exclusively designed to meet the special needs of our younger guests. Fun programs with full adult supervision are provided for children age 2-11.
Babysitting services by professionally trained nannies are also available on request. Please note that the minimum age for infants is 4 months.

Measuring 1 kilometre long and 200 metres wide with north-south orientation, One&Only Kanuhura offers 5 categories of luxury villas and suites to cater to the individual preferences and needs of our guests. The Resort has 100 villas comprising Beach Villas, Duplex Villas, Beach Suites, Water Villas and Water Suites. All of which, are built with natural materials and are furnished with solid timber fixtures of the highest quality. Each villa includes the following features:

Beach Villa
The Beach Villas are dotted on the island's coral sand fringe. Private space extends onto the beach and out to the lagoon.

Beach Villa Duplex
Duplexes comprise 2 interconnecting villas, and are perfect for families and larger parties. Each unit has its own yard area and gateway for added privacy.

Beach Suite
The largest villas available on the Resort are the Beach Suites. With 2 bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms with Jacuzzi bath, a living room, kitchenette, dining table, veranda and a wide beachfront, the suites offer a cosy "home-away-from-home", especially for long-staying guests.

Water Villa
Out on the water, set along mighty sun-bleached wooden pontoons connected to a gangway from the centre of the island, are 18 Water Villas. With private sundecks and staircases that lead down into the water, each water villa offers guests direct access to the lagoon.

Water Suite
The Water Suites are larger, and feature a bedroom, living room and a spacious sundeck with private jacuzzi overlooking the lagoon and reef.

DINING

Thin Rah
The Resort's main restaurant serves delicious buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Themed evenings complete with open-cooking stations present guests with interesting dining options throughout their stay.
v Olive Tree
Presenting a-la-carte dishes from the Mediterranean, the Olive Tree features an open oven with pizza bar. Other specialities include fresh pasta, salads, grilled seafood and steaks.

Veli Café
Grilled specialities of the freshest catch from the Indian Ocean are served for dinner, at one of the most romantic locations on the island.

Jehunuhura Island
A private island getaway is just minutes away from One&Only Kanuhura, on the sister island of Jehunuhura. 6 individual cabanas offer guests a cosy retreat from the heat of the afternoon sun. Chilled flavoured water, fresh fruit and cold towels are available throughout the day. In the evening, the island becomes a haven for private parties or romantic hideaways for two. Choose from a selection of custom-designed dining and overnight packages.


Cove's
Located on Jehunuhura, is Cove's; a delightful al fresco restaurant that combines all the charms of fine dining with your feet in the sand. Lunch is served daily, which features a menu of the chef's favourite recipes.

In-Villa Dining
In Villa-Dining caters for breakfast, light snacks, romantic dinners and special celebrations in the privacy of guests' villas or at various locations on the island. Available 24 hours.

Handhuvaru Bar
Sit back, relax and enjoy cool drinks, cocktails and light snacks throughout the day by the poolside or in the shade of the bar.

Havana Lounge
Enjoy "live" piano music and a selection of fine wines, cognacs, whiskies, liqueurs and cigars in the cosy setting of the Havana Lounge.

Nashaa Club
The Maldives' first discotheque is hidden away at the far end of the island. Music chart toppers and cocktail mixers!

WEDDINGS
One&Only Kanuhura is possibly one of the most romantic settings in the world. The Resort and its staff will do their utmost to make every couple's special day truly unique. Resort Weddings coordinators are at hand to make arrangements specific to the couple's requests and preferences. A wedding at One&Only Kanuhura will be like no other. It should be noted that this is a ceremonial, rather than legal wedding: couples exchange vows in front of a Maldivian master of ceremonies and celebrate with the feast of their choice.
