ACCOMMODATION There are 74 rooms on Machchafushi consisting of three types; Beach Rooms, Garden Rooms and Water Villas. All rooms have air conditioning, ceiling fan, mini fridge, twin or double bed and a partially open-air bathroom with hair dryers and hot and cold desalinated water bath and shower. The 54 attractive Beach Rooms are semi-detached with thatched roofs and a verandah at the front with a traditional Maldivian swingseat. Ten Water Bungalows are built on stilts over the lagoon and the ten Garden Rooms located in the centre of the island. RESTAURANTS AND BARS There is an informal restaurant serving buffet breakfast and lunch and a varied program of theme nights and set meals in the evening. The main bar has a coffee shop offering snacks and an a la carte menu. There is also a second bar by the swimming pool, jacuzzi and gymnasium. Water Sports The water sports centre offers catamaran sailing, windsurfing and canoeing. There is a beautiful swimming pool with a poolside bar, Jacuzzi and a gymnasium. The 5 Star PADI dive centre, run by Sub Aqua, runs regular PADI courses and the house reef is easily accessed for both for snorkelling and diving. Sub Aqua offer Nitrox diving from the island. Boats depart the island twice a day for some of the Maldives best dive sites. There is a sunken wreck very close to the island that can be accessed as a shore dive. |
