Velavaru Island Resort The secret lies in the island of velavaru, Turtle island, situated in the north eastern coner of south Nilandhe atoll. Velavaru is about 150 km from Male' international airport and can be reached in 45 minutes. Velavaru, opened in December 1998, is an average size island by Maldivian standard and is approximately 500m in length by 200 m wide, is the second resort in the atoll. The resort comprises of 66 semi-detached and 18 individual bungalows, restaurant, bar, diving school, water sports center and Spa.
